Andrés Buitrago is a multi-instrumentalist musician, composer, lyricist, arranger, and performer. Born in Bogotá – Colombia. Raised in a music-loving family of eclectic influences, his passion for North and South American rock inherited from his mother, always knew how to coexist with his love for popular and traditional music from all over Latin America inherited from his father. After lived a part of his childhood in Canada and the United States, he began his singing and guitar practice and studies at the « Batuta » institute, a Colombian subsidiary of the Venezuelan project « El Sistema » (known worldwide thanks to the work of the now famous orchestra conductor Gustavo Dudamel) which he had the opportunity to interpret, study and learn about a vast repertoire of traditional music from Latin America. During his adolescence he continued his training and studies at the “Bogota School of Rock” and during his adulthood he was a singer, guitarist, arranger and songwriter for various progressive rock, fusion, blues, folk and traditional Latin American music bands collaborating with musicians from different countries. During the 2010s, he traveled to Lyon, France, where he currently resides, and obtained his diploma in Modern Music at the CFPM (Professional Training Center of Music) in Villeurbanne. Subsequently, Andrés studied a degree in Music and Musicology, as well as a master’s degree in music education and choir conducting. During his formative years at Lumière Lyon 2 University, Andrés had the opportunity to deepen his knowledge of music theory and the universe, writing and history of classical music. These years of practice and academic studies allowed him to experience the choral and instrumental work of chamber music, symphonic music, and jazz music, specifically in the orchestral format, the « Big Band ». It was then, during his years of studies in Master that he met Yohann Bizeul, with whom he had the opportunity to share various musicals and human experiences that led them to collaborate with Paul Lecomte in the group of composers MVSICAE. Currently, Andrés works as an interpreter in several folk, rock and Latin American music groups and in parallel he works as a music teacher and composer.
